Craniosacral Therapy/Midwife – London & South East

What is Craniosacral therapy

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that follows the principals of cranial osteopathy. It’s subtle and refined method, engages the body’s anatomical and physiological systems to release injury, trauma and dysfunction. Using delicate touch and subtle pressure, this deeply relaxing therapy supports the natural flow of cerebrospinal fluid around the brain and spine – helping to release tension, ease stress and support your body’s innate ability to heal.

In short:

  • CST is gentle and non-invasive (it doesn’t hurt and doesn’t involve force).
  • It’s designed to help your body let go of stress and tension.
  • Many people find it deeply relaxing and supportive for their overall well-being.

WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?

Cranial sacral therapy is unique in its ability to work with all aspects your body ; physically, emotionally and spiritually. We, as human beings, are not just a physical body, we have feelings, memories, traumas and beliefs that make us who we are and by addressing the whole of you in a treatment cranial can work to relieve blockage; caused by illness, past injuries and even unresolved trauma. The body may have adapted to these events, but the effects may still be held in the system and impacting your current symptoms.

CST is suitable for everyone during all stages of life including during pregnancy, newborn babies, children, teenagers, adults, and the elderly. It is a calming and restorative therapy that supports the body’s natural healing process and restore your inner calm.

Clients come for a regular treatment to recalibrate their whole body and to fully relax.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SESSION?

Your craniosacral therapy sessions are confidential and created to your exact needs. In your first session, Emma will take time to take a full medical history to create a bespoke care plan for your session.

A session often includes you either lying or sitting down fully clothed. CST is a hands-on approach using a very light touch to make contact with certain parts of the body, such as the feet, the length of the spine, including the limbs , trunk and head. You may feel heat, tingling and pulsating sensations as well as a deep sense of relaxation. During and after a session you may feel calm and energised, with increased clarity of mind and a greater sense of wellbeing.

Major shifts can happen in just one session. However, typically clients are advised to attend 3 to 5 sessions for sustained change to occur.

For Adults

Putting yourself first for a moment, makes a difference

Taking care of ourselves often comes last when life feels busy. We’re all juggling so much—work, family, relationships, health, finances—and it can feel overwhelming at times. Switching off isn’t easy either. With constant notifications and the world at our fingertips, true rest can seem out of reach.

Stress might feel like part of everyday life, but it doesn’t have to be. When we understand how stress affects our mind and body, we can start to restore balance and feel more like ourselves again.

If you’re worried about your physical health, emotional wellbeing, or simply need some space to breathe, Cranio-Sacral therapy offers a gentle way to support you and bring back a sense of calm.

Facial unwinding is another powerful aspect of my work. The fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds muscles and organs—can hold tension from stress, injury or strain. Gentle techniques help release these restrictions, supporting recovery from muscle strains, sports injuries and long-held patterns of tension. This can bring relief, improve mobility and restore a sense of ease throughout the body.

For Children

How Cranio-Sacral Therapy Can Support Children

Children often carry stress and tension in ways that are not always obvious. Cranio-Sacral therapy offers a gentle, non-invasive approach that can help restore balance and calm.

Sessions are designed to create a safe, supportive space where your child feels comfortable. With their consent, I use gentle touch techniques to support the nervous system and encourage the release of tension, creating a calmer state. This can be particularly beneficial for those with additional needs—such as anxiety, low mood, or neurodiversity including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It also supports sleep issues.

Every child is unique, and my focus is always on meeting them where they are, respecting their pace and needs. Cranio-Sacral therapy can help promote relaxation, improve resilience, and support overall wellbeing, complementing other therapies or interventions your child may already be receiving.

Investment £80 per 1 hour session and £75 per 45 min follow up.

For Babies

As a midwife with over 25 years of experience, I have seen how the birth process, whether straightforward or complex, quick or prolonged, planned or emergency caesarean can subject babies to varying degrees of compression, rotational forces and even shock. These factors can sometimes lead to challenges such as feeding difficulties, disrupted sleep, excessive crying, bonding issues, or specific issues like colic, reflux, torticollis or allergies.

In my professional experience, Cranio-Sacral therapy can be highly beneficial in supporting babies through these early adjustments. I recommend arranging a session as soon after birth as possible to help ease any strain and promote comfort and wellbeing.

What to Expect During a Session

Your first appointment is all about creating a calm and nurturing environment for you and your baby. I’ll begin by listening to your birth story and taking a case history so I can understand what brought you here and what your baby needs. As a midwife, I am able to answer any questions you may have

You can hold your baby, feed them, or let them rest comfortably on the couch or floor—whatever feels most natural. I’ll use gentle, light-touch techniques, placing my hands on different areas of your baby’s body and head, making sure they are comfortable and relaxed. This approach works with the whole system—physical, emotional, fluid and energetic—and pays special attention to the nervous system.

Every birth leaves its imprint, and my role is to help ease any lingering tension, compression or shock so your baby can feel more settled and balanced. Sometimes, I also work with parents during the session because the bond between you and your baby is deeply connected and can influence their wellbeing.

Investment £75 per 1 hour session and £70 per 45 min follow up.

I also now offer home visits for newborns or very young babies (where travelling to my clinic would be too difficult) in my local area – Tunbridge Wells, Mayfield, Forest Row, Haywards Heath, Crowborough, Uckfield and Heathfield Investment £100 per 1 hour session.
