What is Birth Trauma
Everyone deserves the ‘perfect pregnancy and birth experience’. However, the truth is it doesn’t always happen like that! Experiencing a difficult, traumatic frightening event before, during or after childbirth can have long lasting emotional and psychological effects.
Ask yourself:
- Do you feel panicked or anxious about your birth?
- Are you avoiding talking about your birth to others?
- Do you feel disconnected from people you are close to?
- Do you find it hard to sleep or stay asleep? Do you have difficulty concentrating on things? Are you having nightmares/flashbacks of your birth?
- Are you scared to have another baby?
It is important to remember that a ‘difficult birth’ doesn’t have to come from a life-threatening event; it can emerge from a deep sense of loss of control, no one listening to your needs, a sense of helplessness, or feeling very unsafe. So even though you may feel you haven’t had a ‘traumatic birth’, you may feel unable to enjoy your pregnancy/new family life. as you feel trapped with those negative emotions and disconnected.
You are not alone, healing is possible. I offer fast and effective treatment to move forward positively, strengthen your connection with your body and baby, support you in moving forward with confidence and regaining your sense of control again.

Reasons to consider birth trauma therapy
Your Fertility Journey
IVF, struggling to conceive or a miscarriage can raise feelings of failure and despair. The trauma of your journey is valid. YOU are not alone!
Pregnancy
Illness, hyperemesis, complications or a fear of giving birth can leave you feeling physically and emotionally isolated from family, friends and your life. A deep sense of not being able to trust your body to keep you and your baby safe can feel very real and trigger a trauma response in the mind. YOU are not alone
Birth
Feelings of loss of control, not being listened to, feeling unsafe or a deep sense of fear for your life or your baby’s can trigger birth trauma. Your experience of your birth is valid and real. YOU are not alone!
Postnatal
A traumatic feeding experience, feelings of failure, or a poor postnatal recovery can activate a trauma response in the brain. This can lead to feelings of isolation, disconnection towards loved ones and a fear of new experiences. Trauma can happen in the postnatal period. YOU are not alone!
